U.S. Congressman Madison Cawthorn (NC-11), along with nearly every member of the North Carolina delegation in the House of Representatives, introduced legislation designating the Post Office located at 33 Coxe Avenue in Asheville, North Carolina, as the ""Dorothy Hansine Andersen Post Office."

Dorothy is credited as the first person to identify cystic fibrosis. She was a pathologist and pediatrician who in 2001 was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame.

"Born in Asheville in 1901, Dorothy's story includes her father's passing, requiring her to care for her sickly mother from a young age.Dorothy's struggle and unique upbringing make her a leading example of the American dream, where an individual can overcome circumstantial and societal hindrances to achieve greatness. I am proud to introduce this legislation celebrating her legacy by renaming this post office in her honor," said Congressman Madison Cawthorn.

Twelve of the thirteen members of the North Carolina delegation have signed on to the bill.
